On reflection I have had back problems for many years and severe pain for at least five. Having tried several types of analgesia with little or no effect including nerve block and epidural it came to a point where surgery was the only option. The pain had become extremely debilitating. I found it difficult to walk, climb stairs, sleep. Life was miserable and just an existence. Family friends and work colleagues said that I looked in pain and miserable. Pain is debilitating.

Surgery was the only option and this took place December 2015. This was the best decision that I have ever made. I now have the life that I had years ago. I have walking holidays, run up and down stairs and sleep. I have been given a new life. I would not hesitate to make the same decision again. Post operation recovery is long but worth every minute.

Best wishes to anyone who opts for this procedure and I would be happy to be available for support.
